Sustainable Social Impact

A one-off event photographs well. What is harder to show is what happens after it, once the chairs are stacked and you still need help with the next step. That later part is what we decided to build for.

So we set ourselves up as a Community Interest Company. Bloom & Become is based in London and was established in 2026. We work with women and young people through practical education, mentoring, wellbeing support and career development programmes. A CIC exists for social impact, not private profit. There is no private return for anyone to take out. That one decision shapes what we can offer you, and what happens to any money left at the end of the year.

Any surplus we make goes back into the work. It pays for more places on a programme, more mentoring, and the experienced facilitators who run the sessions. And it widens access for the people who need us most.

In practice that is somebody's place on a programme. It is the second run of a course that worked, so the woman who could not make the first one still gets it. It is a mentor who is still there in six months, which is when most of the useful conversations happen. Money spent on keeping something running does not look like much from the outside, and it is the difference between a good afternoon and a year that went differently.

It also changes what we can plan for. When a programme you find useful needs to run again for anyone to get real use out of it, we can put the money there instead of into the next new thing. Growth here means more places, and more people who can reach them.

Career clarity, steadier money habits and the confidence to lead a room are not things you pick up in one sitting and keep for good. So our three programmes sit alongside mentoring that carries on rather than ending at a single session. They are the Employability & Enterprise Hub, the Wellbeing & Community Support Circles and the Leadership & Confidence Academy.

The difference shows up the second time. A Wellbeing & Community Support Circle is a different room once you know the people in it. A mentor who has met you before can pick up where you left off and ask about the thing you were stuck on last month. That is why we offer long-term mentoring rather than a single introduction. It does not stop when the workshop does.

That is also why we work with employers, funders, schools and fellow charities. Mentoring does more when those employers are paying attention to who is coming through. A practical session on career clarity does more when a school knows it exists and tells the young people who would get something from it.
